A new best is told as it happened

A new-best moment could read as a contradiction: "set a new best of 12,032 trophies, crossing 12,000, ... +26 to 12,005". The best was reached later than the battle that crossed 12,000. The moment now tells the crossing, then the peak after it: "passed 12,000 trophies for the first time, on a 3-0 win, +26 to 12,005, and went on to a best of 12,032".
